Job description
Responsibilities
-
Work according to a design brief and brand guidelines to develop a distinctive design language for a client, shaped by their brand strategy. And present clear, well-reasoned design decisions with confidence and clarity.
-
Play an active role in refining our website delivery processes to ensure projects are delivered on time, our clients are delighted, and we can take pride in the work we produce.
-
Follow the Articulate process to design websites for our clients, while contributing ideas to improve and streamline how we work.
-
Work collaboratively with the Pixels, our team of designers and developers and contribute high-quality, thoughtfully prepared work that’s easy to hand over and implement: clear, complete, and considerate of both design and development requirements.
-
Apply best-practice research in UI/UX and data-driven websites to build modern marketing websites that generate leads.
-
Take initiative in anticipating client needs, offering proactive suggestions and improvements with a client-first mindset and an eye for detail.
-
Produce creative, effective and deliberate design solutions. Always supported by best practices, research and data.
-
Engage with clients in a responsive and thoughtful way, staying a step ahead where possible. Communicate clearly through well-structured documents, annotated mockups and visuals that simplify complex ideas.
-
Support our inbound marketing work with occasional marketing collateral design. This includes infographics, ebooks, case studies and CTAs.
-
Collaborate with other teams and individuals across the business, including our marketing copywriters and senior leadership, to deliver the strongest possible outcome.
-
Build a strong understanding of each client’s business goals and strategy, and translate those into designs that are beautiful, functional and accessible
Skills
-
Good working knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom).
-
Familiarity with HubSpot is desirable, particularly in relation to building web pages, adding imagery, copy and metadata.
-
A solid and passionate understanding of layout design, colour theory, composition, typography and UX/UI principles.
-
Confident understanding of responsive design and how design decisions impact development.
-
Able to collaborate effectively with developers to ensure designs are implemented as intended. While coding isn’t expected, a strong grasp of how web design translates into development helps ensure feasibility and polish.
Competencies
-
Curious and inquisitive, with a desire to understand areas beyond your immediate role. You have a genuine interest in websites, technology and marketing.
-
A lateral thinker and problem-solver, able to assess a brief and identify the best tools and approaches to deliver creative and effective solutions.
-
Methodical and detail-oriented, with a strong appreciation for process and structure. We value clear thinking and logical next steps.
-
Reliable with your time, able to deliver work to agreed deadlines, and comfortable flagging early if something needs more time or attention.
-
Capable of working independently when needed, while understanding your place within the wider team. We value both collaboration and focus time.
-
Recognise that feedback is a gift and embrace it with humility, whether it comes from your team leader, one of your colleagues or a client.
-
Deeply passionate about web design, layout and UX/UI best practice, and always looking for opportunities to improve your craft.
-
Proactive, self-motivated and confident sharing ideas and taking the initiative in a remote working environment.
-
Skilled at managing multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic setting—we often run several projects in parallel.
-
Strong communicator, both internally and in client-facing contexts. Clear, confident communication helps keep everything moving in the right direction.
