Geek nostalgia: the history of the floppy disk


Fellow HP blogger Steven Vaughan-Nichols has written a great article about the history of the floppy disk. It made me nostalgic in a good, geeky way. And I was surprised to learn that the 5.25 inch disk was the smallest design that wouldn’t fit in your pocket. Apparently they didn’t want people to do that. Just like the QWERTY keyboard is designed to slow people down.
