About Articulate Proofreading

Articulate editors work with all types of business communication including brochures, websites, presentations, product specifications, manuals, proposals, case studies and white papers.

Our clients include leading businesses such as Microsoft, HP and eBay as well as HM Government.

Why you need Articulate Proofreading

  • Mistakes are expensive. Typos undermine credibility. Bad grammar looks unprofessional. Missing trademarks and inconsistent product names can create legal problems. Last-minute corrections can be expensive – better to catch mistakes early on.
  • Too many cooks. When several authors contribute to the same document, it’s easy for it to become inconsistent, but readers expect companies to speak with a single voice.
  • It’s easy to make mistakes. Spell checking doesn’t pick up every type of error and it’s easy for people to become word-blind when they work on the same document for too long.
  • Proofreading is time-consuming. If you spend your time checking work from colleagues and agencies, ask yourself, “Could I be using this time more productively?”

How Articulate Proofreading works

  • You send us your documents by email or using our online form. We work with Microsoft Word documents, Adobe PDF files, PowerPoint presentations and websites. (Other document types on request.)
  • You tell us if you have any specific requirements, for instance US vs. British English.
  • We aim to turn around the majority of projects within two working days. Very long documents (over 5,000 words) may take longer so we’ll agree a timetable before we begin.
  • Each document is checked by a professional proofreader and double-checked by a senior editor. We look for:
    1. Spelling
    2. Grammar
    3. Hyphenation
    4. Capitalisation
    5. Punctuation
    6. Word usage
    7. Consistent proper use of abbreviations
    8. Unfamiliar words and industry jargon
    9. Consistent use of product names and proper nouns
  • Our feedback will either be via ‘track changes’ in Word documents or comments in a PDF file. This approach lets you see every change we suggest and approve or reject them yourself.
  • Everything you send us is dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Business benefits

  • Reassurance. By dealing with professional editors and proofreaders, you can relax in the knowledge that your copy is getting a thorough, independent review.
  • Service level agreements. We guarantee a rapid turnaround on a fixed schedule (normally two working days).
  • Easy budgeting. Our fees are transparent and easy to budget. Because we charge by the word, not by the hour, there are no surprises when you get the bill.
  • Save time. Spend more time on your job and less time proofreading. We can reduce the amount of time you spend checking and correcting copy from other agencies and from colleagues.
  • Save money. We can help you avoid expensive reprints or corrections.

Fees

Our charges are based on word count. We charge £100 per 1,000 words. Prices exclude VAT.
